Manta Network has discontinued its staking mechanism. With the underlying yield source gone, Bifrost is sunsetting vMANTA: minting is permanently closed, redemption stays open indefinitely.
This is not a security incident and no funds are at risk. Reserves are fully intact and every holder can redeem in full at the locked exchange rate.
No action is required from you right now. Redemption routes open in two batches in August, each announced separately. There is no deadline — redeeming later costs you nothing.
Bifrost has already unstaked all underlying MANTA in advance, so reserves are held directly as MANTA. Once the routes open, your redemption settles instantly — no unbonding wait.

Redemption opens later than this announcement because the vMANTA redemption path has to be re-established after the Hyperbridge sunset, which involves an SLPx protocol update. We chose to tell you ahead of that work rather than let minting close without explanation.
Your funds are safe. Reserves are intact, the exchange rate is locked, redemption will be available in full, and there is no deadline.
vMANTA no longer earns yield, and its exchange rate is locked. With the underlying staking stopped, the vMANTA-to-MANTA rate will not change again, so holding brings no further return — and equally, redeeming later costs you nothing. The amount you can redeem is already fixed.
Minting will not reopen.

No unbonding wait. Bifrost has already unstaked all underlying MANTA, and reserves are held directly as MANTA, so redemptions settle instantly.
Note for Manta Pacific holders: the snapshot will be taken in late July. The exact moment will not be announced in advance, so plan accordingly. Afterwards, vMANTA balances on Manta Pacific carry no redemption value — do not purchase vMANTA on that network once the snapshot has been taken.
Hyperbridge has been permanently retired and no cross-chain route will be rebuilt, so MANTA redeemed on Bifrost stays on the Bifrost chain. To move it to Ethereum:

Note that while redemption itself is instant, the payout to Ethereum is processed by governance in batches and is not instant.
This is the only route out for vMANTA held on the Bifrost chain. With Hyperbridge retired there is no cross-chain path left, so Bifrost-side vMANTA cannot be moved to Ethereum — it has to be redeemed into MANTA on Bifrost first, then paid out via remark. Batch 2's Ethereum-local redemption applies only to vMANTA that is already on Ethereum.

Why sunset vMANTA?Manta Network discontinued staking. vMANTA's yield came from MANTA staking rewards, so the product lost its basis once that mechanism ended. This originates on Manta's side; Bifrost is handling the wind-down.

How long does redemption take to settle?It is instant — there is no unbonding wait. Bifrost already unstaked all underlying MANTA, so reserves are held directly as MANTA. The only step involving a wait is moving Bifrost-side MANTA to Ethereum, which depends on governance processing batches.
Why does redemption take until August?After the Hyperbridge sunset, the vMANTA redemption path has to be re-established, and Ethereum-local redemption in particular depends on an SLPx protocol update. We chose to publish the sunset decision and timeline before that work lands rather than leave you guessing after minting closed.
If I can't redeem yet, why announce now?Because minting is already closed — a change you can see directly — and because vMANTA no longer earns yield. You deserve to know that now rather than keep holding an asset that no longer appreciates.
What do I need to do about vMANTA on Manta Pacific?Nothing. An equal amount of vMANTA will be airdropped to the same address on Ethereum based on the snapshot, after which you redeem like any other Ethereum holder. The snapshot happens in late July and could be taken at any point — afterwards, vMANTA on that network carries no redemption value.
Will redemption stay open?Yes. Once open it stays open indefinitely, consistent with other retired vTokens.
Will minting come back?No.
Will the vMANTA exchange rate keep rising?No — the rate is locked. All underlying MANTA has been unstaked and staking rewards have stopped, so the vMANTA-to-MANTA rate will not move again in either direction. You can check the current rate on the Bifrost Dapp; that is the rate your redemption will use.
Do I lose anything by waiting until August to redeem?No. The rate is locked and your redeemable amount is fixed — waiting does not reduce it.
