This proposal suggests the orderly sunset of vGLMR and vMOVR, the liquid staking tokens for Moonbeam (GLMR) and Moonriver (MOVR), currently supported by Bifrost.
Background
Since launch, Bifrost has provided decentralized and secure LST services for Moonbeam and Moonriver users. However, the current vGLMR and vMOVR offerings face several limitations:
- declining staking demand
- limited DeFi integrations
- minimal capital efficiency
- rising operational and maintenance overhead
Given the current usage and market conditions, and to optimize resource allocation and focus on more strategically valuable LST products, Bifrost proposes to orderly sunset vGLMR and vMOVR services.
Timeline
The process will proceed in phases, giving holders sufficient time to redeem their assets:
Phase 1 (Starting March 1, 2026)
- Staking rewards cease: vGLMR and vMOVR will no longer generate staking rewards
- Minting disabled: No new vGLMR or vMOVR can be minted
- Redemption remains available: Users can unstake at any time
Phase 2 (Starting March 8, 2026)
- Fast redemption enabled: All vGLMR and vMOVR redemptions will be processed instantly through the fast redemption channel
- No unbonding period: Users receive GLMR/MOVR immediately upon redemption
User Guide
Users holding vGLMR or vMOVR should be aware that assets will no longer generate yield after March 1.
Those who intend to exit are recommended to redeem after fast redemption becomes available, in order to receive underlying assets with minimal delay.
Please ensure assets are withdrawn from any external protocols or pools before initiating redemption.

This sunset represents a strategic refinement of Bifrost’s LST product lineup.
By reallocating resources toward higher demand assets and more scalable infrastructure, Bifrost aims to deliver stronger yields, deeper liquidity, and a more sustainable long term protocol architecture.
